I signed up and crossing my fingers!
I signed up when I hit their warehouse sale down in Englewood. I picked up a Pinnacle backpack and some rain gear at great prices. Everything I purchased was 50% to 60% off the regular price. When you sign up for this contest, you'll also get an email ahead of time about their sales. Of course, this is only helpful if you live in the Denver area and can get to the sale! I did a short day hike with the Pinnacle, and was very pleased with it.
I'm trying not only to shift to more of the ultralight style for myself, but I'm branching out to ultralight family camping, so the sale was a big help. Still looking for a good family tent that is lightweight, and low volume though.
Unfortunately (for me) you've got to live in the US to take part. And unfortunately there are still no lightweight companies on the european market. So I think it need's a lot of time until there will be such a free give away over here.
I hope you'll all be lucky winners and get some marvelous gear.
Good luck!
I agree - it's really annoying that there are only small cottage industries in the European market and there are few suppliers for the good US ones like MLD, Six Moon Designs and Gossamer Gear. Whilst ULOG (Mark Richardson's online retail outlet) is doing some great work bringing in the likes of Western Mountaineering kit, we still suffer with ridiculous import costs and taxes when we import into the UK. Perhaps I should start my own business importing...
Maz and Basti,
Sorry Guys. Sometimes I forget how good we have it here in the states when it comes to UL gear. But hey, you guys get free health care so touche!
Yeah, I love GoLite's stuff, but they won't even ship to Canada. I have to go through a reseller, so don't always get to take advantage of their sales or giveaways. You'd think in this day & age, international shipping would be a simple way to do more business.
Hey Matt,
If you want to order something from them, I could get it for you and ship it as a "gift" to Canada.
I wanted to sign up. On the front page of the Australian site they had the same comp. But when you click on the link it takes you to the US page. So I can't enter :-(
Hey Jason,
I think you're right. Free health care is one thing I won't miss. Especially when you're doing a lot of risky outdoor-sports.
Marc, for a lightweight family tent look at the Black Diamond Magamid or a similarly designed pyramid. The weight of a tarp with room for 4. I bought one used on EBay, but my wife and daughter don't like camping so it sees little use.
