Ultralight Tent Stake Bags
OK, maybe tent stake bags aren't the sexiest piece of gear and you might not think there's really much left to improve on them (after all, they're just small bags). I've sewed a few of my own and despite my lousy sewing skills, they worked fine.
One thing that has bothered me though was the tendency of sharper stakes (such as titanium shepherd's hooks) to eventually poke through the bottom of the stake bag material. So, I came up with this idea: make a stake bag with a silnylon upper, and use Dyneema for the bottom to prevent the stakes from poking though. Here are a couple of prototypes I had made. I will be selling them within the next couple of weeks so if you'd like to to get one, I'll post a link when they're available. And don't worry, they're being made by someone with a lot better sewing skills than me!

Good idea.
Awesome idea! I regularly use a ziplock bag for my titanium shepard's crook stakes. Sooooo tired of them piercing through and running amuck in my pack. Can't wait.
Do you have a name for your product line? How about Klass Gear. Get it? Classy and Your own brand too! :p
Sea To Summit Ultra-Sil Dry Bags come in really nice little plastic sleeves that fold flat. Those sleeves make the *perfect* lightweight stake-holders.

I haven't thought about a name yet but I probably should as I have a lot of other gear designs in the works that will be coming out in the next couple of months. The tent stake bags are just the tip of the proverbial iceberg.
Good idea. Now I just need to get some XPac or Dyneema to sew my own - after all, stuff sacks are the easiest thing to sew =)
Hmmm. I've always used a tallish thinnish nylon bag with the stakes upside down inside (some titanium needles and some MSR aluminum Y stakes) and the sack right-side up in the rear mesh pocket, if you follow me. Am I missing something (of course I am)?

Nice prototypes. Overall, you have some great innovations, and you do a nice job of keeping things simple and efficient at the task for which they are designed.
I too have been self-diagnosed as suffering from Gear Addiction Syndrome (GAS). I can think of worse things, and have no plan to seek treatment. I'm too busy finding sites like this one to feed the fire!
I want one when they're completed.

Glad you're interested in them. I want mine too. You wouldn't believe the amount of money, time, and bureaucracy involved with getting something this simple produced. I'm still working on it and will post as soon as it's available. I feel a little like Sisyphus right now. :(
Now that summer's over, let's move this to the top of Jason's to-do list! ;)
